Five years ago, my parents told me they bought a new car. I was so excited to come home and see it. Unfortunately, there was a stupid hamster looking silver car in the drive way. It took me some time to get used to the way it looks, but I leaned that what it has to offer is so much more important.
Obviously, the most amazing part about this car is its gas mileage. I can drive to and from L.A. using only $60 on gas. It only takes me about $25 worth of gas to fill up in the first place. Most of the stuff in the car is touch screen including the gps. Although this car is amazing, there are a few things I don't like about it.
The seats are really uncomfortable, especially on long drives. Also, because the gas mileage is so good, this car gets driven a lot. It know has over 200 thousand miles on it. Despite the down falls, I would say this is a good car for anyone.

New vs Old
Have you ever noticed that technology made a few yers ago ( like 10 or 20 years) last longer then the technology being made now? In modern day the most important thing isnt making th best quality product, but making a pretty good product that'll get you by for a while. most importantly making a product that'll get you the most profit. Now this really sucks for us, we have to pay more for crappy stuff.
You can see examples of this anywhere. Driving around I always see those really old Hondas that have like 200 thousand miles on them but they are still going. Now in days cars don't seem to last as long and if they do they have problems along the way. I believe retailers are realizing that their product has to stop lasting in order for people to need more and buy more.
What got me thinking about the subject was my bedroom. As lame as this might sound I still have glow in the dark stars on my ceiling from when I was a kid. I just never got around to taking them down. But anyways these things are still glowing! And the are glowing strong. Now that's impressive. Now that would suck for the company I bought them from since I obviously never had to buy them again. That's why I believe technology does not come at the same quality as it used to.
But hey, it's just a thought...

Robots are Near
Last week we read that article on robots. When I first stared reading it I bought that man was crazy. For real? Robots not only being in the world but being superior to humans. It sounded like a great story but in no way true.
There was something about this article that grew on me. The more I think about it the more real it becomes. I stil remember hearing about the iPhone coming out and that sounded unreal at the time also. Now it has come out with Siri, which is like having a robotic friend on your phone. It's crazy. It's basically a robot without the body. Now all scientist need to do is make it a body and teach it how to walk.
I don't think robots are going to benefit us. Right now we have self check out at grocery stores and that is already taking away jobs. With robots in the world there would be no reason for any one to work. I think robots would end up owning us and we would have no education. Let's just hope I'm wrong or we are in for a big(not so good) suprise.

Garmin
So there is one thing I have never really been able to do... Read a map. That's why I LOVE my garmin. It will give me directions down the street or all the way across the country. That main use i get out of my garmin is when im hungry. There is this great feature that lets me see what food is around so ill never have an empty belly. Also, they are always updating their maps since our world is always changing. This little thing will guide me basically anywhere I need to go, well most of the time it'll guide me.
Some times my garmin, who I have named Garmie will have a mind of it's own. It'll say the dreaded word of "recalculating" it's so annoying. Also I recently got in a car accident... For looking at my garmin. They can be distracting at times.
But overall I still love my gps. And now pictures even pop up of where I'm at.. Which might be a bad idea but I guess we'll find out later !

Apple
It only feels right to take a minute to talk about Steve Jobs. This man would imagine things and make them come true. He didn't hold back. It is because of him that we have a lot of the amazing technology that we have today. Im sure many people that his ideas were crazy and unattainable, but he made them real. Although he is no longer with us here, his amazing inventions and philosophies are left behind. He will be irreplaceable, but through the company he built his passion and dream will stay alive.

Motion pictures
So I'm on my way to the movie theaters and started thinking about the history behind them. Theaters and film have gone back so many years. The experience of seeing a movie on a large screen is SO much better then watching it from home. It a a single theater some technology you might find is projectors, popcorn makers, computer, and tons of other stuff. What started as just small nickelodeons have now evolved in multi screen cinemas. My conclusion is that movie theaters and all of the equipment involved in making them is extremely necessary for having an experience that the movie was trying to portray.
